for Welsh businesses by organising free speed networking events in Mid Wales this March.
Funded by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Supplier Development Service, ‘speed networking’ is based on the same principles as speed dating: they provide a fun, enjoyable way for a wide range of businesses to form new partnerships. Ontrac’s Project Director, Sian Hill, is responsible for organising the events – which are a first for Mid Wales.
Sian, who is bilingual Welsh and English, said: “We’ve had a really good response to these events, with 40 companies across a range of sectors booked in so far. We were careful to invite a good cross-section of business contacts. The first event for March 9th was sold out within four weeks of our promoting it – and the other events are filling up fast.”
So far the business sectors represented include: web development, civil engineering, training and development, the food industry, renewable energy, architecture and financial services. Delegates will be matched by sector, and given three minutes to explain their businesses to each other before moving onto the next person. Halfway through the evening, delegates will be refuelled with wine and cheese before moving on again for another round of three-minute ‘dates’.
Sian added: “It’s really exciting for Ontrac to be involved in this initiative which will provide new, unique opportunities for businesses to meet face to face and join forces as Wales comes out of the recession.”
The three free speed networking events are taking place on the following dates at the locations:
• Tuesday, 9th March 2010 at Maesmawr Hall, Newtown
• Wednesday, 24th March 2010 at Peterstone Court, Brecon
• Thursday, 25th March 2010 at The Ship Inn, Dolgellau
